B.A.R.C.
B.A.R.C., the Boone Animal Rescue Club, was established
by sponsors Buffy Dowdell and Stephanie Schields on May 19th, 2011. Our mission is to help in educating the students and others on issues such as the importance and necessity of spay/neuter, euthanasia, animal rescue, volunteering and more. The interest from the students, staff and community has been overwhelming in a fantastic way.
We are incredibly proud of our members and volunteers. The time (hours and hours), sweat and tears they have put in to make our club and rescue successful is overwhelming. We work with incredible veterinary
clinics (see links) and are extremely blessed. The number of animals we have helped in saving increases almost on a weekly basis.
Our student members dedicate their spare time to saving the lives of homeless animals facing euthanization or deathly illnesses. We depend solely on fundraising and donations.
Our rescues include Triumph, a 10 month old pit-bull, who was beat and left in a dumpster to die with 2 broken bones in her leg. We provided funds for surgery to be performed among boarding, medications, shots, etc. Triumph now lives in a forever home and is doing amazing. See Triumph's story on the TRIUMPHS page. We also saved a 6 week old puppy, Pixie, from Parvo. Pixie was recently adopted, see her story on the TESTIMONIALS page and her before and after photos on the BEFORE & AFTER page.
